Ian Roberts, 61, and Pam Curtis, 58 found £21,480 waiting for them in a wicker basket on their doorstep last month. However, unlike many people, they did the noble thing and turned it over to the police and they have now been allowed to keep the money.
The couple is retired and they are originally from Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. They decided to turn over the money to the authorities because they were in awe that no one had attached a note to the basket saying who it was for or who it came from. However, once handed over to the police 28 days passed and no one claimed the money so they returned it back to them.
Sources are saying that the money probably came from a donator who was trying to help develop the local park yet wanted to stay anonymous. This is because Mr. Roberts is the current chairman and Mrs. Curtis is the secretary of the committee that has been raising money for the Hope Street Park. Both of them are very thankful for the money and they have revealed that they will indeed be using all of the money for that exact cause. Currently, the couple also has a note that is on their door that is thanking whoever left the hugely generous donation.
This is just such a wonderful story and it seems like this couple really deserved the money. They surely did receive a blessing and hopefully their project will come together nicely.
