Anyone who has a smartphone, and uses it for games, is familiar with the Scrabble like games. One particular game – Words with Friends – is particularly popular. Many people are using it to pass time and have fun while some are using it to save lives.
In Blue Springs, Missouri, it appears as though they use the game to save lives. Georgie Fletcher and Beth Legler have been playing the game for three months – even though they lives countries away from each other – and have developed a nice friendship. During, one game Fletcher told Beth that her husband was not feeling good and told her the symptoms. Beth, however, happens to be married to a doctor and she shared Georgie’s husband’s symptoms with him. Larry – Beth’s husband – immediately knew that Simon had a blockage near his heart and told his wife to let Fletcher know that her husband needed to go to the hospital right away. When Simon – Georgie’s husband – arrived to the hospital he made it just in time because he would have died if he would have just ignored the symptoms.
It is just absolutely amazing that this phone game has actually saved someone’s life. So, it proves that sometimes making friends on the internet is not a bad thing. Sure, you never know who you are talking to but at the same time this can be a good thing – especially in a case like this. I just love stories that have happy endings and this seemed to be one that was just too good not to share.
