Iraq war veteran J.R. Martinez was crowned Dancing With the Stars champion just days ago, and he's taking little time to celebrate. He's already shopping around a new memoir to publishers. With so much interest surrounding the charismatic, 28-year-old Martinez, the timing is perfect for a book.
Apparently, J.R. Martinez began writing the book before his turn on the DWTS ball room floor - so it's ready to go, for the right price. Hopefully he'll get a great deal!
I'll confess something right now: I do not watch Dancing With the Stars. I've seen a couple of finales over the years, but that's about it. But when I heard the J.R. Martinez story, I tuned in. And I even voted a few times (including the finale, yes). I honestly have nothing against Rob Kardashian, honestly, but I absolutely wanted J.R. to win that Mirror Ball trophy.
I can't imagine coming back from the devastating injuries he suffered when his Humvee hit that land mine. What Martinez has done since is nothing short of incredible. Hopefully J.R. will keep acting, too. His rep tells the New York Post that "He definitely wants to act," and he's got several auditions coming up in the very near future.
J.R. Martinez is also a motivational speaker (not surprisingly), with a message that everyone needs to hear: No matter what life throws at you, you can overcome it with perseverance and dedication. I expect, if he's smart (and he is), that he'll get out there as much as possible to continue to inspire everyone with his remarkable story!
